Zilliqa (ZIL) is a new blockchain platform that is designed to scale in an open, permission-less distributed network securely. DApps built on the Zilliqa platform will benefit from high throughput of thousands of transactions per second, with the potential to rival the transaction time of centralised payment transaction systems. To scale the protocol to this level, Zilliqa employs a mechanism called “sharding”, whereby transaction throughput increases linearly with network size Zilliqa is powered by Zillings (ZILs), which are in many ways analogous to ETH on the Ethereum protocol. ZILs are used to pay fees to the network nodes. Within the ZIL ecosystem, each block rewards several miners at a time. In addition, the protocol is designed so that miner income is more stable compared to other chains.
